At The Scraptoft Day Nursery we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children, parents, visitors and staff.

We monitor and check nursery safety standards on a daily basis, and general risk assessments are reviewed annually and more frequently when required. All of our electrical equipment and services, gas supplies, water systems, fire extinguishers and equipment are checked annually by independent experts. Alongside this, fire risk assessments are reviewed each year, and fire drills are carried out on a monthly basis.

When recruiting staff we follow our rigorous recruitment procedures which includes carrying out pre-employment checks. All our staff are subject to thorough referencing as well as an enhanced DBS check. We do not employ agency staff.

All of our staff are paediatric first-aid trained and in addition to this they complete a yearly re-fresher course. Staff also complete Safeguarding training annually.

All staff are fully trained on our Nursery Policies and Procedures and adhere to these at all times to ensure the safety of the children when both indoors and outdoors.
